Ramon Parra hosted presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy and served as his delegate at the 1968 presidential convention.
Parra's love for children and education drove his focus for creating opportunities for underserved individuals and families in his community of San Ysidro CA.

Carla A. Parra
Carla A. Parra founder & CEO
Of Give me Peace.org has been inspired and driven partly due to her families legacy of community service .
Throughout Carla’s life she has strived to continue this legacy . Her businesses over the years , all directly related to health & wellness have helped 1000’s of people .
Her personal dedication comes from her own experiences and not without difficulties. Her ultimate wish is that her insights and empathy can be utilized to eliminate and or alleviate someone else’s suffering.
Following her Father's and Grandfathers footsteps, Carla has founded 3 wellness businesses. She has served as a board member of La Jolla Merchants association.
Carla has over 30 years experience in health and wellness as a business owner and competitive athlete. Mother of two, and Grandmother of 3, still keeping herself and others healthy, strong, and of sound mind .

Norman "Bumpy" Parra
Norman”Bumpy “ Parra. He was a well respected Boxer in the US army , held the title of California bantam weight champion and his post career was spent opening community boxing gyms to inspire and help underserved communities and troubled teens , leading them to golden gloves and providing safe spaces.
Focusing primarily on disadvantaged Hispanic kids, Parra helped to provide them with a better alternative than gang life. With the help of the Chicano Federation, Parra organized boxing tournaments that allowed his fighters to benefit from tough competition .
In retirement he trained several fighters and established several boxing clubs for disadvantaged youth in the San Diego area.

Ramon N. Parra
Ramon N. Parra’s work in the community often earned him the unofficial title of Mayor of San Ysidro.
The 47-year resident of San Ysidro served on the school board for 18 years, founded a Little League team, volunteered for countless organizations and served as a delegate to the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
On June 3, 1968, when Robert Kennedy visited San Ysidro, Parra was chosen to greet and host the presidential candidate.
Ramon’s dedication to various San Ysidro organizations and his contributions to the community that a group of former San Ysidro residents are pushing to honor his legacy.
The Friends of San Ysidro group, working in collaboration with the San Ysidro School District, plan to preserve Ramon’s legacy by naming a school library in his honor.
